A stubborn fire complicated by electrical arching and fed by gas gutted a Trinidad row house Saturday night, January 26th. First arriving box alarm units encountered heavy fire in the basement of the two story row dwelling at 1281 Penn Street NE.
Power arching in the basement forced firefighters back as fire rushed up into the first floor. Eventually, all units had to be ordered out of the building due to
deteriorating conditions and the need to control utilities.
Flames also buried themselves in the walls, and it was a see-saw battle before the incident could finally be placed under control.
