In the morning hours a BOX ALARM was struck for a reported HOUSE ON FIRE WITH PEOPLE TRAPPED in the 5200 blk. of East Capital St. S.E. bringing 13 TRUCK SECOND DUE on the Alarm. Engine Company 30 quickly arrived on the scene to find a two story, ordinary, middle of the row single family with SMOKE SHOWING from Side Alpha and FIRE SHOWING from Side Charlie. Units went to work to extinguish the fire in the basement and cut off the extension beyond the first floor. TRUCK Co. 13 laddered the building, ventilated and went to work opening up and was used extensively for overhaul in the basement. After the fire was extinguished a victim was discovered in the basement who perished in the fire.
